The winner is… New Orleans.
Crescent City will host Miss Universe pageant In January 2023, the pageant announced on it social media channels on Monday.
The global competition will be held on January 14th at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
More than 90 women from around the world compete for the towering crown, competing in swimwear, evening gowns and interviews.
Unlike other beauty pageants, the Miss Universe contest has moved around the world. Television viewers around the world will be exposed to the city in large numbers.
“Hosting the 71st annual Miss Universe pageant is a rare and prestigious opportunity to actively showcase New Orleans to a global audience in 165 countries,” said Walter, executive vice president and new CEO of Tourism New Orleans Inc. said Walt Leger III. and the official destination sales and marketing organization for the hospitality industry. “Miss Universe will bring contestants and their delegations, fans, celebrity judges and performers from 90 countries, as well as hundreds of journalists and global influencers to New Orleans for over a week to support our business and enjoy our culture.”
The defending champion is Harnaaz Sandhu of India.
Miss America, the representative of the United States, will be elected on October 3 in Reno, Nevada.
The pageant was formerly owned by Donald Trump, who sold it in 2015.
