The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, said the city was hit by two missiles targeting “critical infrastructure”.
Russia has stepped up missile strikes in recent weeks after blaming Ukraine for the bombing that damaged the Crimea bridge.
The barrage of missiles comes two days after Russia accused Ukraine of launching a drone strike off the coast of Crimea. Russia also announced it would stop participating in a UN-brokered deal to allow ships carrying food from Ukraine to pass safely.
