Union Minister of State (MoS) V Muraleedharan held separate meetings with the Attorney General and Tolerance Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday to discuss issues facing the Indian community in the West Asian country. MoS Muraleedharan discussed India-UAE cooperation in consular matters and people-to-people ties between the two countries during his meeting with UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah Al Nuaimi.

We discussed cooperation between India and the UAE on consular matters and processes to help any challenges facing the Indian community and the long-standing relationship between the two countries. Muraleedharan held talks with Tolerance Minister Sheikh Nahyan on cultural cooperation, sports and community welfare.

In an earlier statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) said the MoS would meet with UAE ministers and a broad range of representatives of the Indian community in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other UAE emirates. According to the MEA statement, the minister will also engage with Indian businessmen, professionals, teachers and students. MOS will also engage with Indian blue collar workers and social leaders in the UAE.
India and the UAE continue to coordinate closely in the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership. According to the official press release, this year is special for both India and the UAE as they hold the presidencies of G20 and COP28 respectively. Earlier, in December last year, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar visited the UAE, while UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited India in November 2022.
