Dubai’s Museum of the Future (MotF) has won a global award for its commitment to diversity, accessibility, inclusion and equity, reflecting its vision of a brighter future designed with everyone in mind.
The museum received the Roy L. Shafer Frontier Award, also known as the “Avantgarde Award,” from ASTC (Association of Science and Technology Centers). It was recognized for its outstanding achievements in management and financial sustainability, winning the Business Practice category. ASTC officially unveiled “Edgie” during a virtual awards ceremony (#ASTCvirtual) earlier this month.
Majed Jakka Al Mansoori, Deputy Executive Director, Museum of the Future, said: “The award reflects and recognizes our ongoing efforts to make the future accessible to all through the museum experience. Our aim is based on the notion that every Individuals can make important contributions to the future. We firmly believe that a future without contributions from all sectors of society is a future that cannot satisfy everyone in society.”
Inclusion and diversity are also at the heart of MOTF exhibits. For example, the “Heroes of the Future” exhibition encourages young people to make new discoveries about themselves and the technologies that will form a fundamental part of their future. It focuses on the belief that everyone can contribute to the future, regardless of their background, age or physical and mental abilities.
Through its experiences, the Museum of the Future transports today’s generations into the world of tomorrow, giving them a glimpse of what the future might hold. Its main goal is to inspire and empower people to reimagine the future and build the world they want to live in.
Al Mansoori added: “The Museum of the Future provides a nurturing environment that connects creative minds in Dubai and the world. Diversity and inclusion are an important part of how the Museum works with partners to design and test concepts for the future. We seek to lead a global intellectual movement , to actively explore and foresee future changes in the fields of science, economy, environment and society.”
The Roy L. Shafer Frontiers Award is presented to ASTC members and/or their staff and volunteers for extraordinary achievements that not only improve the performance of their own organizations, but also significantly advance the science and technology behind the organization.
Nominations are based on actual or lasting impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of the institution’s business, how the institution applies and demonstrates new ideas and best practices, and how it demonstrates ASTC’s commitment to diversity, accessibility, inclusion, and equity to judge. – trade arab news agency
