On the court, including world No. 2 Anse Jaber, Belinda Bencic, Danielle Collins, Bianca Andreescu, Jelena Ostapenko and The star line-up of 60 women, including Elena Rybakina, will keep tennis fans on their toes. A total of 60 races will be played, including qualifying and main races.
Off the pitch, some of the UAE’s food brands, entertainment, games and events will make for a sensational fan village – complete with product samples, giveaways and great prizes. There will be daily Q&A sessions Monday through Thursday, giving fans the chance to ask questions of some of the best sports talent in the world.
The Fan Village is free to enter for the duration of the event, as well as free entry to the final qualifying round, which will complete the draw for the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open on 5 February. There will be a total of 18 qualifiers from February 5th to 6th, and the main match is scheduled to start at 3 pm on February 6th.
Young tennis fans can also get up close and personal with some of the best players in the world, and children under 12 get in for free on Opening Day. February 6th will also be designated as Children’s Day, with a focus on inspiring and entertaining the stars of tomorrow.
The addition to the WTA calendar is the latest in an annual series of sporting events in Abu Dhabi. In recent years, the emirate has firmly established itself as the center of some of the largest and most successful global sporting events.
Founded in 1973 by Billie Jean King on the principles of equal opportunity, the WTA is the world leader in women’s professional sport. The WTA is one of the most famous and high-profile sports organizations in the world, comprising more than 1,600 players from approximately 87 countries, all competing for WTA ranking points and prestigious championship titles. The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open is a WTA 500 event presented by IMG in partnership with Mubadala and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
