Abu Dhabi, UAE: Mubadala Health, in partnership with the Early Childhood Authority Abu Dhabi (ECA), has announced the launch of a pilot program to support parents in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, furthering its commitment to protecting and supporting the physical and mental health of both parents and children.The focus of this pilot project is to Community awareness and knowledge of child development It is an important part of Abu Dhabi’s comprehensive early childhood intervention system framework.
The pilot project aims to meet the needs and rights of all children in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, regardless of income level, location or gender; by educating parents about important developmental milestones and how they can support their children to achieve their best during these milestones development outcomes, leading to positive outcomes for children. The plan will use the national vaccination program to raise awareness and understanding of any developmental delays and the importance of early intervention, while tracking developmental progress across appropriate age ranges and encouraging parents concerned about their child’s development to seek guidance early on.
The second phase of the program will see the launch of the Child Health Line, which will be operated by Mubadala Health Partners Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre. This helpline will provide immediate support to parents or carers who are concerned about their child’s development by connecting them with the healthcare services they need. Parents will also have access to essential resources to facilitate their child’s development and increase their awareness of their child’s changing developmental needs. These services range from tips on how to play with children to guidance on when and how to introduce solid foods to babies. A dedicated Child Support Line will be resourced by trained and qualified nurses who will provide support and guidance to parents and assist with scheduling appointments should there be any concerns or issues that require prompt resolution through medical intervention.
Sana Mohamed Suhail, Director General, Early Childhood Authority Abu Dhabi (ECA), said: “Together with our partners at Mubadala Health, we aim to raise awareness among parents of children’s key developmental milestones and the importance of early intervention as and to enable them to spot any developmental disability or delay, and encourage them to discuss their concerns with a healthcare professional as early as possible; to ensure that the child receives an accurate and early diagnosis and access to appropriate intervention services.”
Your Excellency highlighted that a lack of parental awareness and understanding of a child’s developmental journey and how to identify potential difficulties can hinder a child’s timely access to early intervention services. The program will help increase parents’ confidence and knowledge about the signs of normal child development and provide them with access to experts and formal sources of information related to child growth and development to support normal and healthy child development.
