The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) and Mubadala Investments signed a historic agreement on Thursday, whereby Abu Dhabi Government Investments will sponsor the UAE national team and receive naming rights for the UAE capital Jiu-Jitsu Arena.
The strategic partnership reinforces both parties’ commitment to supporting the nation’s athletes, broadening their sporting horizons and advancing the nation’s global leadership.
The agreement was signed by Abdul Monem Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Chairman of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Homaid Al Shimmari, Group Deputy CEO and Chief Corporate Officer. The sponsorship confirms that Mubadala is the exclusive sponsor of all divisions of the UAE National Jiu-Jitsu team and lent his name to the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Zayed Sports City. The deal is in line with Mubadala’s community initiative to support Emirati talent and shows the sovereign wealth fund’s eagerness to back the country’s national team, which has won numerous global championships in recent years.
In a press conference announcing the partnership, Hashemi thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his unwavering support for athletics.
“UAEJJF is always eager to partner with leading national institutions to develop the sport in the UAE,” Hashemi said.
“Mubadala Investments is seen as a role model for all state institutions when it comes to empowering the nation’s youth and encouraging our talented athletes to continue to shine. We look forward to strengthening relationships. Shimmari said: “Witnessing local youth to achieve incredible milestones in sport is an important source of national pride in Mubadala. Through our strategic partnership with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, we are sponsoring the UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Federation. The announcement is timely as the national team prepares to compete in several international competitions, including the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Abu Dhabi at the end of this month, the Asian Championships in Thailand in February and eight other world championships. UAE top jiu-jitsu player Faisal Al Ketbi praised the addition of Mubadala to strengthen the UAE national jiu-jitsu team.

The UAE National Jiu-Jitsu team has recently enjoyed great success, winning the Asian Championships, World Championships and the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, USA.
Promising star Sharma Al-Karbani said: “On behalf of the national women’s football team, I would like to thank all UAEJJF officials, sponsors and partners for all they do to ensure we have access to the resources that will help us prepare for the world. Resource – class competition.”
