Mubadala sponsors the fourth edition of GMIS

Mubadala Investment Corporation, a sovereign investor based in Abu Dhabi, announced that it will be the title sponsor of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (GMIS) for the fourth consecutive time. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the fourth event will be held concurrently with the Dubai World Expo from November 22 to 27.

Focus on the subject Rewiring society: reusing digitalization to promote prosperity, This event will explore how to use the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) to increase the productivity of the entire manufacturing ecosystem and create shared value for global organizations. The summit will also host the UAE’s first technology-driven manufacturing exhibition to showcase the latest innovations in technology and products.

Mubadala’s involvement will allow the organization to highlight the recent changes in its domestic champion companies, including Strata Manufacturing (Strata), Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat) and Sanad Group (Sanad). As industry partners of GMIS, these three companies have strengthened Mubadala’s role in promoting the country’s commitment to economic transformation.

Before Mubadala sponsored GMIS 2021, the sovereign wealth fund paid more attention to technology and manufacturing, including its role in the consortium, and invested a total of US$2.25 billion in Waymo, a self-driving technology company under Google’s parent company Alphabet. In addition, in Mubadala’s 2020 global and collective response to COVID-19, Strata provided Japan with masks produced in the UAE to support Japan’s national efforts in responding to the pandemic and protecting frontline medical staff.

Mubadala also expanded investment in advanced digital technologies by acquiring shares in G42, a UAE-born global leader in artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing. From genomics to smart country, from financial technology to space, G42 accelerates the development of the country in terms of technological progress.
