Mubi is adding more than 50 features from Sony Pictures’ library to its US streaming service.A mix of studio and gallery fare includes Steven Spielberg’s Close contact of the third kindMartin Scorsese The age of innocence, last photo exhibition Works by Peter Bogdanovich and films by Wes Anderson, Pedro Almodovar and Guillermo Del Toro.
The company’s growing global streaming service currently offers more than 900 titles in the US, with a new film being added to the platform every day. The deal with Sony makes a lot of sense, especially since the studio has become more aggressive in reserving content for its own service. Uniquely, Sony doesn’t have a streaming platform in-house.
