Naomi Judd ‘has been haunted by an unfair enemy’ before her death.
The family of the 76-year-old musician, who committed suicide at home in April, has further opened up about her mental health problems after an autopsy report was released this week.
In a statement, the family said: “We always openly share the joys and sorrows of being a family. Part of our story is that our matriarch is haunted by an unfair enemy. She has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder. Treatment for Affective Disorder., millions of Americans can relate to.”
Judd has several prescription drugs in his system for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and bipolar disorder, according to the medical examiner’s report.
Naomi has a history of battling anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, chronic idiopathic pneumonia, hepatitis C, hypertension and hypothyroidism.
“Each family, the deceased had previous suicidal thoughts and recent life stress. A weapon and a note with suicidal intent were found near the deceased at the scene,” the report added.
Her daughter, Ashley Judd, confirmed in May that her mother had shot herself and that she found her lifeless body.
She said: “She used a weapon. My mom used a gun. So that’s information we’re very reluctant to share.”
Ashley later revealed that she hoped her mother was safe now.
Ashley said: “My most ardent wish for my mother is that when she transitions, she wants to be free of any guilt or shame that may have come with raising me and my sister for any shortcomings. Say, everything has been forgiven, everything has been forgiven.”
