National Olympic Committee launches page on UAE volunteering platform

Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, in partnership with the Ministry of Community Development and the Emirates Foundation, made a statement on the occasion of the launch of the NOC page on the UAE volunteering platform on Zayed’s Humanitarian Workday the above speech. The NOC’s new page on the platform (www.volunteers.ae) aims to attract volunteers from all disciplines and provide them with diverse sports volunteering opportunities as a wider part of strengthening the UAE’s position as the venue of choice for regional and global sporting events part of the strategy.

He further said that the directive of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, on the promotion of volunteering has helped to advance the Olympic movement in the UAE. The vision of the UAE leadership has helped foster a strong spirit of volunteerism in the country, thereby enhancing the country’s ability to organize extraordinary sporting events.

Hessa Tahlak, Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development at the Ministry of Community Development, said the UAE leadership and government place a high priority on providing volunteering opportunities to the community. His Excellency also highlighted that the Ministry of Community Development and the UAE Foundation continue to work closely with the National Olympic Committees to open up new channels for volunteers of all ages and nationalities to support the organization’s short- and long-term development goals.

The national volunteering platform, which features volunteering opportunities from different organisations, has 500,000 registered volunteers from various disciplines, she said. She further said that sport volunteering supports the personal and professional development of volunteers, which in turn helps develop capacity across the country, a key objective of the NOC’s partnership with the Department of Community Development.

Ahmed Talib Al Shamsi, Chief Executive Officer of the UAE Foundation, said that volunteerism is crucial to the success of the foundation’s mission, inspired by Sheikh Zayed, who instilled in every Emiratis the value of service to the country and sowed The seeds of a broad volunteering movement that is gaining new momentum. He added that with the help of advanced technology, the platform matches volunteers with volunteering opportunities in the sports sector with the support of the National Olympic Committee.
