Amnesty International has criticized what it says are “sham trials designed to intimidate those involved in the popular uprising that has rocked Iran”.

Activists warn that at least a dozen people have already been sentenced to death in closed hearings.

State media released a video of a man identified as Rahnavard stabbing another man who had fallen on a parked motorcycle before immediately stabbing the other before running away.

The execution comes as protesters continue to take to the streets in defiance of threats from the government and security forces, Massa Amini.

The 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman died while in the custody of Iran’s morality police.

Meanwhile, the European Union’s foreign policy chief said on Monday that the bloc would agree to a “very tough” package of sanctions on Iran.

“We will approve a very severe sanction,” Josep Borrell said.

“(The EU) will take all possible actions to support young women and peaceful protesters.”

Iran blames foreign enemies for unrest and Kurdish separatistsbut its statement has been criticized by academic circles.
