Abu Dhabi’s love of basketball was highlighted when the “NBA Zone” hosted a five-day celebration of NBA and pop culture at Manarat Al Saadiyat.
The opening of the event coincided with the 2022 NBA Abu Dhabi Games, and fans flocked to revel in the immersive and interactive experience.
NBA fans packed the Saadiyat Island venue for a host of basketball challenges, including the “NBA Ice Buckets” game that beat the buzzer for a chance to win two highly-rated games between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Bucks. Look forward to tickets for one of the preseason games. The Atlanta Hawks will be at the Etihad Arena, Memorabilia and more from October 6-8.

Other activities in the interactive activities include a chance to customize basketballs, win sneakers and quiz some of the game’s legendary players.
A highlight of the opening day was a Q&A with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. Cheered by an adoring crowd, “Shaq” revealed his only real regret during his illustrious career was that he “missed a lot of 3-pointers.” When asked for his thoughts on the greatest player of all time, he drew huge cheers from the crowd. his reply? “Michael Jordan.” The cheers grew louder as he named his All-Time All-Time Team: “Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kobe and me.”
Shaq went on to advise adoring young fans in the audience to listen to their parents and follow their dreams if they want to succeed in professional basketball.

Elsewhere, legend Isaiah Thomas held a Q&A with fans and posed for photos.
Through Sunday, fans will have the opportunity to take photos with NBA legends and memorabilia, including the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
