NCIS Recap: Undercover Brothers

[ad_1]

when was the last time NCIS villain reveal makes you feel betrayed? Because the bad guy turn of the final scene is a definite “say it ain’t so!” moment to me this week.

The action in “Big Rig” centers on Dale Sawyer (Zen Holtz), Torres’ (Wilmer Valderrama) mentioned his interest in undercover work with NCIS frenemy his last time. Well, Sawyer got that wish, and he clearly regrets it now.

Bloody and unsettling, he tracks down Torres and suggests he’s crossed a major line in his deep undercover mission. But when Torres tried to help, Sawyer disappeared into the night. Torres refused to let go. He learns that the FBI is running an operation, but they won’t return his calls, so he gathers the team to the Canvas motel, where Sawyer is likely to be staying.

He and Knight (Katrina Act) eventually find the motel where Sawyer had been staying – and Sawyer’s burnt car, with a charred body in the trunk.

Torres nearly loses it with this discovery, confessing to Parker (gary cole) It was his fault, Sawyer probably died in the trunk. The FBI first approached Torres about the operation, but he declined to protect his newfound sobriety. Parker said prioritizing his mental health was the right decision, but Torres felt guilty for choosing himself over a job and for putting Sawyer in a position he wasn’t prepared for.

But hey, good news, it’s not Sawyer in the trunk! Palmer (Brian Dietzen) and Sawyer are good dinner friends, so Jimmy knows to check his body for front implants.

The dead man was actually FBI agent Greg Paramis, who was shot dead before being burned, and Now The FBI is willing to return Torres’ calls. Parlamis worked with Sawyer to investigate a series of robberies of trucks bound for naval bases loaded with common office supplies. When Torres learned that Sawyer and Parlamis had left the network three weeks ago, he was angry with the FBI liaison, who countered that since Torres turned down the undercover gig, he wasn’t in a position to criticize it.

Kasie (Diona Reasonover) discovers that the bullet in Parlamis’ chest belongs to Sawyer’s gun. Oh, and she also helps McGee (Sean Murray) in preparation for his upcoming appearance on a quiz show smart alexWhile Knight oversees how an increasingly nervous McGee will play against the returning five-time champion, Kasie is the true MVP as he encourages him to practice buzz quickly. (Savvy game show consumers know that success will always depend on your reaction time.)

Regardless, the team put the game show shenanigans aside in order to find Sawyer before the FBI.

First, they spoke to the owner of the trucking company, who was concerned about the loss of workers and losing her Navy contract. She said thieves broke into her trucks to stop them, then hitched the trailer to their own.

Second, they learned that one of her drivers, Wade Cutler, had robberies and Grand Theft Auto on his criminal record and had called in sick before each robbery.

Third, Sawyer’s mom has heard a lot about Torres, she said that Sawyer stopped by unexpectedly last month for his sister Kara’s anniversary. Also, he called her last week to tell her he loved her, and in the background she heard loud music and animal purring.

All of this leads the team to a roadside shack popular with truck drivers, where a grunting mechanical bull lives. But they couldn’t just roll up as the FBI, so Torres went undercover as Danny Rico from Florida, hoping for a quick buck.

He first chatted with Mama Joe (Nancy Youngblut), the owner of the roadside shack, who recognized him as “Bill’s Friend” When he ordered a cranapple at the bar. She said she herself had been sober for eight years, had given him the house booze, and welcomed him warmly.

Torres then starts a fight, which is stopped by undercover Sawyer, who draws a gun and leads him to Wade, who swings an ax behind his back. He also backed Torres’ story about an old cellmate who got him involved in a burglary ring.

When Wade told one of his men to check Torres for wires because he looked like a cop, Torres grabbed the ax and threatened to chop off the man’s hand. That’s good enough for Wade!

After they were fired, Torres followed Sawyer across the hall to the bathroom, where they talked loudly about being undercover. Well, maybe don’t do that here, guys.

Sawyer told Torres Palamis was a dirty agent and killed him in self-defense. Then Wade shows up and tells Sawyer to set the corpse on fire. When Torres suggested he end the operation, Sawyer refused; he had invested months of his life on the verge of unmasking Wade’s boss.

Cassie solves the mystery of these seemingly mundane thefts when she realizes they are adding massive amounts of vitamin B1, a chemical used to make GHB, aka the date rape drug.

Torres confronts Sawyer at the trucking company when he learns that Sawyer made the connection weeks ago and isn’t in the loop with the FBI. Then again, guys, maybe don’t let these rallies go out in the open.

At least they’ll climb into Sawyer’s truck to solve the final problem. Sawyer admits his sister died of a GHB overdose, and since he can’t find someone to sell her to, he can at least stop the bad guys. He also said he was envious of the teams around Torres. Torres replied that he was looking for Sawyer, and together they responded to Wade’s call to move the drugs to a new location.

At the roadhouse, a follower insists on confiscating their phones and taking them to a new location so the rest of the team can’t track them down. The second location turned out to be a plastic covered warehouse – not a good sign! – The big boss turned out to be Joe’s mother. Say no, Joe! You were so warm and understanding with Torres just now! (Also, it doesn’t sound like joe goldberg, but the plastic is not on the floor, just on the wall, which seems to defeat the purpose of easy cleanup. )

A sex worker at the inn, who also worked at the motel, recognized Torres as a law enforcement agent and notified Wade. oops! When Sawyer tried to protect him, Wade handed Sawyer a gun and told him to prove his loyalty by killing the cop.

After a tense moment, Sawyer turned his gun on the others and identified himself as NCIS. But the bad guy got there first and gave him an unloaded gun. oops.

Thankfully, Torres two He walked ahead of everyone, taking his men’s cell phones from pockets in roadside shacks and surreptitiously calling NCIS. Just then, the rest of the team rushed in to arrest the criminal. The scene devolved into a punch and kick, with Torres and Sawyer eventually lying flat on the ground, battered but thrilled to be alive. Wow, is a brother ship really born?

It looks like it might be.when McGee’s smart alex With playing time put on hold after the defending champions were caught cheating, the team gathered at Palmer’s place for an impromptu trivia party while Sawyer arrived late with pizza. He was clearly hesitant to break in, but the group welcomed him warmly. Hope Sawyer finds his team.

  • Does anyone else envy the plants every time Parker’s solarium is shown? That place looks absolutely magical.

  • I’m a little surprised I didn’t get any calls back about the concerns Torres raised during the meeting about being a lone wolf. Three exhibition cross earlier this month. This week seemed like the perfect opportunity to dispel fears and emphasize that he didn’t have to be that person.

  • But seriously, would you bet on McGee cleaning up? Clever Alex?
