Working group launched at inaugural Negev summit at Sde Boker to hold first physical meeting in UAE capital
Israel and its Arab allies began two days of talks in Abu Dhabi on Monday to lay out plans for the next Negev summit, expected to take place in Morocco this spring.
The Negev Forum Steering Committee and Working Group included high-level delegations from countries that normalized relations with Israel as part of the 2020 Abraham Accords – the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco. Egypt, which signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979, was also present in the UAE capital. A high-level delegation from the United States visited.
Notable absence is Jordan, which signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1994. Jordan said it would not attend the forum without a Palestinian representative. The Palestinian Authority has refused to join the group of foreign ministers, which first met last March in the southern Israeli town of Sde Boker.

The Israeli delegation to Abu Dhabi was led by Alon Ushpiz, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as senior government officials from various ministries, as well as representatives of the Water Authority and the National Security Council.
