NEP 3rd edition starts accepting applications from July 1

The National Expert Programme (NEP) has launched its third edition and will begin accepting applications from 1 July 2022.

The programme is a launch pad for UAE technology experts who want to play a leading role in the transformation of future growth sectors in line with UAE national priorities.

Launched in 2019 and organized under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, NEP aims to foster the development of industry leaders and technologists who will help shape the future of the country.

The programme develops a cohort of Emirati professionals recognized as excelling in their fields and enables them to make a transformative impact on key social and economic sectors.

Combining the guidance of influential government and business leaders with the expertise of executive educators and industry-specific experts from leading global partner organizations, NEP instills five key mindsets for lifelong learning: reflective, analytical, mundane, collaborative and action.

The third edition will focus on improving the skills and knowledge of 15 professionals in three key areas: economic growth, social development, and sustainability and infrastructure. An applicant will be selected to represent each of the 15 sectors that are critical to the achievement of the UAE’s strategic goals.

rigorous procedure

Participants in each cohort undertake a rigorous programme designed to hone their leadership skills and expertise while working on strategic projects in their respective fields addressing specific priorities identified by the UAE leadership.

Developed in partnership with local and international academic and industry leaders, the programme will enable applicants to further specialise in their chosen industry, use their skills and knowledge to act decisively and help drive future growth in the UAE.

Participants in the third edition of the NEP representing the areas of economic development; advanced science and research; technology and innovation; space; media and creative industries; tourism, retail and lifestyle will be part of the economic growth cluster, while social development will include engaging in people working in culture and heritage; education; health and well-being; community development and social services; and policy and government services. Nationals with positions in the fields of environment and climate change; mobility and logistics; energy and renewable energy; food and water security will join the sustainable development and infrastructure cluster.

This eight-month program will include collaborative activities and thought-provoking educational experiences, offering a combination of field work and classroom learning. Participants will work with their advisors and mentors to develop a unique curriculum tailored to their individual professional, personal and industry-specific development needs. Combining their existing industry experience with project-based learning, participants will contribute to transformative projects with national impact.

Since the launch of the National Expert Programme, it has brought together the ambitions of its participants, the teachings of top educators and the expertise of UAE government and business leaders to contribute to the development of the country.

To date, 46 Emiratis from diverse backgrounds have benefited greatly from the knowledge and experience imparted by NEP mentors and partners.

Graduates of the program’s first two cohorts have seven projects being implemented in their departments, putting the skills they acquired into practice and helping drive positive and sustainable outcomes in service to the nation.

The programme is designed for Emirati professionals who aim to improve their ability to facilitate change, deepen their understanding of industry trends and practices, and contribute to the UAE’s centennial vision for economic growth.

Applicants in the third cohort must have at least 10 years of experience, including 5 years in their industry, and have contributed to strategic projects addressing national priorities.
