Netflix co-CEOs doubled their support for Dave Chappelle and “The Closer”-“Adults can watch violence, assault and abuse, or enjoy shocking stand-up comedies”

[ad_1]

#Roommates, the controversial ongoing drama surrounding Dave Chapel and him Netflix The special program continues. After his previous support for Chappelle, the Netflix co-CEO has doubled down, even more. In a new statement, Ted Sarandos made it clear that Netflix not only firmly supports Dave Chappelle, but the company fully supports the right of individuals to watch any content of their choice.

@Variety reports, Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix Another lengthy memo Introduce the staff to Dave Chappelle and his latest talk show special “The Closer”-if critics think he will back down after news of a transgender employee strike, then they must be wrong. In the memo, Sarandos said: “We know that we have decided to put Dave Chapel’s latest special on Netflix, making many of you angry, disappointed and hurt… Adults can watch violence , Beatings, and abuse — or appreciating shocking stand-up comedies — won’t cause them to harm others.”

He continued to discuss and compare other controversial Netflix titles:

“Through “The Closer”, we learned that the focus is not on certain content that is offensive, but on titles that may increase real-world harm (for example, further marginalizing already marginalized groups, hatred, violence, etc.). Last year, we I heard similar news about “365 days” and concerns about violence against women. Although some employees disagree, we firmly believe that the content on the screen will not directly translate into real-world harm. The strongest evidence to support this is, Violence on the screen has increased dramatically in the past three decades, especially in first-party shooters, but the rate of violent crime in many countries has fallen sharply.”

As we previously reported, after Netflix publicly stated that it had no plans to delete Dave Chappelle’s “The Closer”, news broke that the company’s transgender employees planned to go on strike on October 20.

In response to the growing backlash, Chapel recently stated, “If this is what the cancellation looks like, I like it.”
