New air communication between Bishkek and Abu Dhabi expected to start in June 2023

TwitterFacebookAKIPRESS.COM website – As part of creating favorable conditions for the development of international air services, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), with the support of Switzerland, helped to develop a detailed study of the potential of the Manas International Airport Joint Stock Company (JSC “MAM”) and its comparative advantages for expansion Analyze the geography of international flights. Priority routes with the greatest development potential were identified and detailed proposals were developed for each route in the form of an airline development plan.

Since June 2022, the Kyrgyzstan Investment and Growth Project, realized by the International Finance Corporation and funded by the Swiss Government, together with its partners and JSC “MAM” are actively working on opening new international flights to the country. Prepared business cases and presentations for airlines, supported participation in three international aviation events and held a series of meetings with airlines.

A new Abu Dhabi-Bishkek-Abu Dhabi route was made possible in June this year thanks to the efforts of JSC “MAM” and Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and the support of the Cabinet of Kyrgyz Republic. There are also plans to launch flights on the Abu Dhabi-Osh route in the near future.

Manasbek Samidinov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “MAM” emphasized: “We are sure that our cooperation with Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will only expand in terms of flight geography and number of base aircraft. This will lead to an influx of new tourists and growth in tourism develop”.

Olivier Bangerter, Swiss Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, congratulated the inauguration of the new flight, stating: “The new international air traffic means that Kyrgyzstan is now more open to the world. I hope this will allow more people to visit Kyrgyzstan and develop tourism .”

Manizha Mamadnabieva, IFC country officer for the Kyrgyz Republic, said: “The opening of new international air services will help increase the flow of tourists to the country, develop tourism and create jobs, including for young people and women. The initiative is part of IFC’s assistance to develop the private sector and stimulate economic growth in the Kyrgyz Republic.”

IFC is also supporting the government of the Kyrgyz Republic in conducting an open public-private partnership tender to attract qualified private operators to invest in Manas International Airport infrastructure.
