Bollywood fans in the United Arab Emirates can now satisfy their addiction at an exhibition at the Louvre Abu Dhabi
There are plenty of Bollywood fans overseas and they usually have enough money to satisfy all their cravings for Hindi movies. But now, the iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi has also stepped up – with a new exhibition showcasing the history of Bollywood.

Bollywood Superstars: Short Stories for Indian Cinema Running until June 4, 2023, it is organized by Louvre Abu Dhabi in partnership with the Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac and the French Museum. It is co-curated by Julien Rousseau and South Asian film expert anthropologist Hélène Kessous, Director of the Asian Collection at Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, with the support of Dr Souraya Noujaim, Louvre Abu Dhabi Scientific, Curatorial and Director of Collection Management.

Featuring more than 80 artworks, including textiles, photographs, clothing, graphic art and more than 30 film clips, the exhibition explores the depths of Indian civilization and art, filtered through the diversity of the filmmaking industry and the country’s long tradition of image-making Depth and richness, and the role of popular arts such as dance theater and storytelling, and their relationship to religion and mythology.

It showcases the rich history of Indian cinema from the late 19th century to the present day. Exhibits include a wide range of loan artifacts, including shadow puppets, photographs, props from early storytellers, religious and mythological lithographs, daggers and Mughal armor.
The Indian film industry is one of the largest in the world. More than 1,500 films are released each year in nearly 20 languages.
