This holiday season comes a big bag of Christmas music.

Full-length album selections include a cool Christmas with Louis Armstrong; family time with Andrea Bocelli and Gloria Estefan; soulful moments with Ray Charles, James Brown and Joss Stone; and Chris Isaak Take a swinging and crooning holiday together.

Holiday singles include actress Ann-Margret and Lafayette guru guitarist Sonny Landreth’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” available on 45 rpm vinyl; “Christmas This Year,” a dramatic, choreographed The ballad of New Orleans and New York-based actor and musician Michael Cerveris; and rising young jazz singer Samara Joy, a pair of seasonal singles, “A Warm Twelve” Month,” starring pianist and New Orleans native Sullivan Fortner, and “Holy Night,” featuring the Joy family.

Many of the new festive releases below are available in a variety of formats, including festive red vinyl.

Louis Armstrong, “Louis Wishes You a Cool Yule”: While New Orleans-born jazz star Louis Armstrong has released Christmas songs over the years, he didn’t release a holiday album during his lifetime. Half a century after his death, most of Armstrong’s holiday recordings are included in an 11-song album, including “Christmas in New Orleans,” “Cool Christmas,” a non-holiday favorite ” What a Wonderful World,” and his previously unreleased read, “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” aka “The Night Before Christmas,” features Fortner’s newly recorded piano accompaniment.

Armstrong biographer Ricky Riccardi, a regular speaker at Satchmo Summerfest and director of research collections at the Louis Armstrong House Museum in New York, wrote the cover notes for the album.

Backstreet Boys, “A Very Backstreet Christmas!”: The Backstreet Boys’ first holiday album in their 30-year career features newly written and recorded “Christmas in New York,” “Together” and “Happy Time.”

Andrea Bocelli, “A Family Christmas”: opera star Bocelli and his family sing holiday classics along with “Over the Rainbow”, “Il Giorno Più Speciale (A Most Special Day)” and “Buon Natale (Merry Christmas)”.

James Brown, ‘Christmas Time’: Soul star Brown adds funk to the holiday season with ‘Christmas Is Everyone’, ‘Reindeer on the Roof’ and nine more songs.

Ray Charles, “Christmas Spirit”: Originally released in 1985, Charles’s Holiday Presents features standards and originals with the Raelettes and trumpeter Freddie Hubbard.

Gloria Istfan“Estefan Family Christmas”: Estefan sings 14 English-language songs and three Spanish-language performances with her daughter, Emily, grandson, Sasha, and more family members.

Chris Isaac, “Everybody Knows It’s Christmas”: Isaak’s second Christmas album features eight new Isaak compositions and fun remakes of “Run Rudolph Run,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”

Norah Jones, ‘I Dream of Christmas Deluxe’: The Grammy-winning singer-pianist’s 2021 pop Christmas album returns in deluxe edition, including concert recordings and a new studio rendition of ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.’

Alicia Keys, “Christmas Baby”: Keys reimagines seven classic songs and contributes four original songs to the holiday repertoire. “I love this kind of music,” she said. “I pick each song based on my all-time favorites and create new ones based on real holiday sentiment and stories.”

joss stone “Merry Christmas, Love”: Nashville-based British neo-soul diva Stone’s first holiday project includes a Motown adaptation of Stevie Wonder’s “What Christmas Means to Me.”

Other artists include Joe Louis Walker (“Christmas (Once a Year Comes”), Lightnin’ Hopkins (“Santa Claus”) and Larry McCray (“Santa Claus Wants Some Love”).

multiple artists, ’90s Country Christmas’: 1990s country stars sing 16 holiday songs. Tracks include Suzy Bogguss (“Two-Step ‘Round the Christmas Tree”), Alan Jackson (“Let It Be Christmas”) and Trisha Yearwood with Vince Gill (“An Angel Gets Its Wings”).
