New fun bar opening soon in Shelby County

Shelbina, Missouri (WGEM) – A piano bar in Shelbina, Missouri, is expected to bring foot traffic to rural areas.

Owner Blake Totten said he wanted Legend’s Honky Tonk to be a place where people could come to enjoy live music entertainment and drinks.

He said no such business currently exists in Shelby County and hopes it will bring something new to the community.

“I really want to bring something fun to my community. We don’t have much to do here. We don’t have a lot of entertainment or a great place where we can relax, have a drink, hang out and listen to live music ,” Totten said.

Totten said he wanted to have a double piano for bars, bingo nights, trivia and karaoke.

Totten and his family have been working at the bar since January.

He said inflation and licensing had delayed his desired opening date.

As a result, Totten had to do a lot of work on the bar himself.

“I did most of the work myself, with the help of my friends and family when they could help. It’s a process, but we’re getting there,” Totten said.

Legend’s Honky Tonk still requires a liquor license and building inspections.

After that, Totten said he will be ready to open his bar for community enjoyment.

Shelbina city clerk Tim Lacey said he hopes it will attract more out-of-towners to Shelbina.
