Abu Dhabi has launched a new fund to support the growth of business tourism within the emirate.
The fund was established following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB), Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) and ADNEC Group, owner and operator of the largest exhibition venue in the Middle East – Abu Dhabi Than the National Exhibition Center.
The ADCEB and ADNEC Group joint fund is expected to drive an increase in B2B events and incentive travel in the emirate.
The fund will be available for events scheduled to take place from May of this year onwards. For events planned to take place between 1 May 2023 and 31 December 2024, applicants can submit a request for proposals to ADCEB or ADNEC Group for new funding to support their events.
According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the fund will provide additional financial incentives and support corporate meeting planners and incentive bodies.
The partnership will reportedly combine a joint marketing effort by ADCEB and ADNEC Group to raise awareness of the emirate’s ability to host large-scale conferences, conferences, exhibitions and events.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, ADNEC, added: “We are delighted to partner with Abu Dhabi Exhibition Authority to launch a joint fund for organizers of international corporate meetings and events interested in staging their Events. Events at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. This is part of our efforts to strengthen business tourism in Abu Dhabi and the UAE and attract more companies to choose Abu Dhabi as the ideal destination for any meeting, convention, exhibition or event .”
DCT Abu Dhabi announced last year the launch of its enhanced Advantage Abu Dhabi Meetings and Incentives Program 2.0 programme. The program motivates various stakeholders involved in driving the development of the MICE industry in the emirate. For example, as part of an improvement program, ADCEB has partnered with Etihad Airways to encourage corporate clients to choose Abu Dhabi for MICE events. Likewise, the project’s hotel partners also have programs dedicated to the MICE sector. Intermediaries involved in promoting the development of Abu Dhabi’s MICE industry will also be appropriately rewarded. ADCEB has launched the MICE Agent Incentive Program to incentivize international and local intermediaries to bring business to the UAE capital.
ADCEB is also working on strategic partnerships with various entities. Last year, it partnered with Abu Dhabi-based Miral to create the Business Events Fund, which aims to attract business events and corporate groups of more than 500 people.
