Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Standing Technical Committee on Technical Standards of the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) has released the Abu Dhabi Road Speed ​​Management Guidelines detailing the assessment, review and standardisation of existing and new Procedures for vehicle speed on the road, and related engineering aspects of speed control.
The guidelines to help ensure the highest levels of safety and security on Abu Dhabi’s roads were developed in collaboration with the Joint Committee on Traffic Safety, led by the Ministry of Municipalities and Transport, Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters, the Integrated Transport Centre and the Ministry of Transport. health department. The group also includes representatives from other affiliated cities.
The guidelines are in line with the Joint Commission on Traffic Safety’s Vision Zero strategy, which identifies safe speeds that take into account all road users, engineering standards and traffic control needs by emphasizing the need for clear speed management methods and tools.
Saif Al Bakri, Director of QCC’s Normative Services Department, said the guidelines aim to improve traffic safety in accordance with best international standards and practices, and inform applicable speeds commensurate with engineering design and road conditions.
