NOT (Members of Sharp Shock, Mercy Music) Announce New Band, Release Debut Single

What will you do when ALL stops making records? You and your friends form a band and make it yourself.

no The brainchild of singer/songwriter Davey Warsop, a Brit living in Los Angeles known for bands like Beat Union, Suedehead and Sharp/Shock. Warsop met guitarist Brendan Scholz and bassist Jarred Cooper (both of Mercy Music in Las Vegas) at the funeral when their shared manager and So-Cal punk legend Stewart Teggart tragically passed away. With a shared love of pop-punk pioneers ALL and Descendents, the trio brought in drummer Kyle Whitmore and decided to make a record dedicated to Teggart. It seems fitting, since it was their late friend and mentor who brought their lives together from the start.

Warsop and Scholz (who were both wayward lead songwriters on their other musical projects) decided to join forces to write exclusively for NOT, resulting in a formidable creative duo like pop-punk Lennon/McCartney.

Their debut album, Stop the World, is a collection of 14 hyperactive, caffeine-fueled pop songs, song after song about love and A chorus of heartache.

Most importantly, if “Stop the World” wasn’t homemade, it wouldn’t be an appropriate homage to ALL/Descendents’ DIY work ethic. Since landing in Los Angeles, Warsop has produced and designed for such films as The Used, Green Day, Bad Cop Bad Cop and Face To Face. So it makes sense that the record was recorded at Warsop’s own Strong Studios in Long Beach, California, under his own control. The record was then mixed and mastered by Paul Miner (known for his work on New Found Glory and Death By Stereo).

Debut single “Stop the World” is playing everywhere right now, with a full-length pass in the new year Wiretapping records (North America), Brassneck Records (UK/Europe) and Waterslide Records (Japan). CDs and tapes will also be available on Paper and Plastic.

In Warsop’s own words, “So many musicians have unapologetically paid homage to bands like The Ramones or The Clash…it’s about time someone did the same for ALL. We just wanted to hang that face as proudly as possible banner.”

Scholz added: “We’re certainly not reinventing the wheel, it’s more about celebrating and paying homage to the bands that helped define the pop-punk genre. So if you like pop-punk, you won’t”
