Abu Dhabi has opened a new community park featuring a statue of a ‘saqih’ horse – one of the original Sicilian mares owned by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, among other entertainment and sports facility.
Al Mes’hab Park, adjacent to the Abu Dhabi Police Academy, was inaugurated by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office. The park is a joint initiative between the Police and the City and Department of Transport to celebrate traditional policing culture and heritage.
The park is equipped with children’s play and sports training equipment to encourage community members to develop a healthy and active lifestyle. In the center of the park, there is a statue of a “saqih” horse, owned by the late founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed, from which the logo of the Abu Dhabi Police Cavaliers was designed. The park also features a pedestal decorated with verses by Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed and poet Abu Al Tayyib Al Mutanabbi, praising the beauty and strength of the Arabian horse.
During the visit, Sheikh Khaled participated in the military parade of the Special Patrol Division, which included cavalry, motorcycles, bicycles and Al-Marsad patrols. He witnessed a tshouleeb art performance by a traditional cavalry band and the first live maneuver by the Al Forsan cavalry to demonstrate crowd control procedures using electronic simulators.
Sheikh Khalid praised the achievements of the Abu Dhabi Police since its establishment in 1957 and its important role in maintaining security and stability by enhancing public security with the latest technology, as well as in providing training to hone new The role of talent and keeping pace with the rapid development of the global security field.
