A new online platform aims to solve the production conundrums of the Atlanta entertainment industry.
“We launched Impact to empower the people who bring stories to life,” said Impact co-founder Brian Grazer. “We want to enable more opportunities for crews and simplify the way productions connect and collaborate.”
Impact is a professional network that provides crews and producers with specialized tools to hire talent faster, pack earlier, and be more inclusive.
Due to shortages, it often takes months for producers and studios to lock down crews and locations, leading to major delays.
Impact was founded in 2020 by Oscar-winning duo Grazer and Ron Howard and CEO Tyler Mitchell.
“Despite the tremendous technological innovations in digital effects, cameras, editing and streaming over the years, the actual installation and physical production of shows haven’t changed much over the past 20 years,” Howard said.
The platform has a database of over 400,000 potential crew profiles.
Impact has been in beta for the past year and has more than 18,000 registered users, 4,000 of which are based in Atlanta.
“In the United States alone there are more than 330,000 workers, most of whom are independent contractors,” Mitchell said. “However, until now, there has not been a network to connect this broad range of talent with opportunities. Impact is excited to be the destination for staff to network, showcase their work and find work, while providing an easy way for productions to find and hire A place for different talents.”
In the past 90 days, 50 titles worldwide (13 in Atlanta) used Impact to find available staff for 118 jobs.
The platform officially launched publicly on September 21 in Atlanta.
“We hope Impact will make life easier for hard-working crews, make productions run more smoothly, and maybe even end days early,” says Howard.
The platform is backed by venture capital firm Benchmark, which has led investments in Uber, eBay, Zillow, OpenTable and NextDoor.
