New project to improve traffic flow, parking, lighting in residential areas

United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipal and Transport (DMT) has announced a series of infrastructure projects, which will begin on September 15, as part of the development of the North Yas residential complex.

This work includes improving road standards and safety, expanding green spaces and community facilities, protecting the public image and landscape, and developing a long-term infrastructure plan for the area.

The new project is part of DMT’s strategy to develop an integrated urban community that will improve the quality of life of the emirate’s residents by providing infrastructure projects and public spaces in line with international best practice.

The project will be carried out in five phases over the next few months and will be completed in the first quarter of 2023. DMT will work with strategic partners to provide a variety of solutions to ensure that in the project. The department will provide alternative routes and parking spaces. The department will also provide dedicated support on-site throughout the day and after hours for seniors and people of determination to access their housing and public services.

New developments include improving roads and infrastructure in residential areas, building sidewalks and restoring stormwater drainage.

DMT also aims to improve traffic flow and improve lighting in the North Yas residential area. The department will also create pocket parks within the community and improve the appearance of public facilities.

The area will welcome its first 13,600-square-meter park, which includes green spaces and shaded areas. In addition to parking, football, basketball, volleyball and badminton courts, a new community market and a fully equipped children’s playground, residents will be able to enjoy a truly extraordinary experience.

The new project will add a 1.8km cycle path in the northwest area of ​​Al-Ikhtisar Street, completing the link between Al-Ishbah Street and Yas Drive Streets west of the area. The upcoming cycle path will enhance the emirate’s outdoor scene for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
