The next generation of Sea World theme park will open in Abu Dhabi on May 23rd. Adjacent to Warner Bros. World and Ferrari World, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will be the third major indoor park at Yas Island Resort, which is also home to Yas Marina Circuit, the season-ending Formula 1 circuit.
It will be the fifth and fourth remaining SeaWorld park, and the first to open since SeaWorld San Antonio opened in 1988. (SeaWorld Ohio closed in 2000.) But as an indoor park without orcas, it would be a sea world like no other.
Yas Island owner Miral built the park under license from SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, which will be operated by Miral Experiences, which operates other parks on Yas Island. In addition to the park’s attractions, the facility will house Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue, a marine science and marine life conservation facility serving the Gulf region.
For visitors, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will offer attractions across eight themed “realms” rather than land, because, well, it doesn’t make sense to have land in one place ocean Did the world do it?
Here’s an overview of the new SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.
