Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour convened a group of top Paris Fashion Week insiders on Friday to announce that next year’s Met Gala will feature work by the late Karl Lagerfeld.
The world’s most fashionable fundraiser will take place on the first Monday, May 1, 2023, celebrating the work of the German-born fashion designer who has worked at Chanel, Fendi and Chloe in 2019 Died at the age of 85.
The Met Gala theme was borrowed from the show at the Metropolitan Institute of Costumes in New York.

It will be called Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, and will collect around 150 of his works to explore his “language of style”.
Lagerfeld’s original sketches will also be on display.
“The exhibition will explore Lagerfeld’s sophisticated working methods, tracing the evolution of his fashion from two-dimensional to three-dimensional,” said Andrew Bolton, star curator at the Costume Institute, in a statement.
“The fluid lines of his sketches are expressed in the recurring aesthetic themes of his fashions, combining his designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloe, Fendi, Chanel and his namesake label Karl Lagerfeld to create a Diverse and prolific work in fashion history.”
Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty will be on view at the museum’s Tisch Gallery from May 5 to July 16, 2023.
