Niecy Nash has been bombarded with requests for treatment.
The 53-year-old actress, who plays therapist Dr Jamie Ryan on TV series “Never Have I,” admits fans can’t separate fiction from reality.
Niecy told Entertainment Tonight: “Oh, let me tell you something, everybody wants it. They’re all in my DMs, asking me what I think. I say, ‘Listen, I play Therapy on TV Teacher. Everyone relax.’
“The thing is, I go to therapy, so I do have a lot of sound advice. But I think, you know, sometimes people really think I’m the Dr. Ryan of it all, and I’m not!”
The fourth and final season of the Netflix comedy-drama — acclaimed for its representation of the South Asian community — premieres next week, and Niecy is enjoying working with the rest of the cast.
The “Reno 911!” star said: “Oh my God. It’s like the ultimate melting pot. And the good thing about it is, because the casting is so beautiful, the relationship doesn’t seem forced. You know what I mean? You believe in this group that we’re really friends, and I like that.”
Niecy also revealed that given the chance, she would tell her younger self not to stress about her weight.
She said: “‘You know, I have ‘Big Mama’ on my cheerleader’s sweater because I’ve always been the biggest one. In some circles, I still am, but I still have a good life, and, You know, eventually the thick will be in. Don’t worry because, look, when I’m thick it’s not. It’s not. It’s a fad, but hang in there. Your time is almost up.
“That’s what I’m telling my younger self.”
