[ad_1]

At the same time, the authorities have announced that the Kozhikode area is on high alert.

On Sunday, after a 12-year-old boy in India died of a Nipah virus attack, two health workers who had contact with the boy are now under surveillance.

State Health Minister Vina George, who arrived in Kozhikode in the morning, held a meeting of health, tax and police officials with PA Mohammed Riyaz, State Minister of Disability, and State Transport Minister AK Saseendran, to review the situation.

The review meeting focused on the steps to be taken to deal with the death of a 12-year-old boy and the situation that occurred after Nipah was admitted to the state on June 10, 2018.

In the last Nipah attack in 2018, 17 people were killed, and the government and health departments now have no chance.

According to health officials, the two health officials on the boy’s contact list have developed symptoms of the virus. A total of 188 people are in the contact list, and 20 of them are from the index list or high-risk categories.

State Health Minister Vina George told media sources that one of the health workers was from the Kozhikode Government Medical School Hospital and the other was from the private hospital where the boy was treated earlier.

The Minister of Health told the media after the review meeting of the Kozhikode Government Guest House: “There is no reason to worry, but we must be highly vigilant. A ward of the Kozhikode Government Medical School has been converted into a Nipah ward and a control room has been opened. .”

She said that the three-story paid ward of the Kozhikode Government Medical School will be allocated to Nipah and high-risk patients, and health workers will soon be transferred to the facility. The minister also stated that a team from the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune will soon arrive in Kozhikode and set up a virology laboratory at the Kozhikode Government Medical School Hospital. This laboratory is used for initial screening of Nipah virus.

The minister also said that the medical team is looking for the source of exposure to the disease in Chathamangalam panchayath (Chathamangalam panchayath). She said that all necessary precautions were taken on Saturday night before announcing the child’s test results.

At the same time, the authorities have announced that the Kozhikode area is on high alert. The road within 3 kilometers of the deceased’s residence was blocked, and a heavy police team was deployed on duty.

The health department has closed Ward 9 in Chathamangalam panchayath and imposed restrictions on Wards 8, 10 and 12.

The staff of the Omassery local hospital in Kozhikode district is also on alert.

The health authorities have notified local people to report any fever, vomiting and other health problems immediately.
