NEW ORLEANS (press release) – The fifth year of Modelo Beer’s Top Taco, an all-inclusive taco and tequila, will be at Lafreniere Park in Metairie on Thursday, October 27 from 6-10 p.m. held. – The only event will benefit the PLEASE Foundation, a nonprofit that provides mentoring, leadership training, and scholarships to at-risk youth to enter local college prep high schools.
This year’s Top Taco will include three stages of live music James Andrews and Crescent City All-Stars, Ultra, Mulvelo and Bogchito. Other entertainment includes live Lucha Libre, Mariachi, GOAT Petting Zoo at Gulf Bank, Trixie Minx Burlesque, DJ 2NYCE and Casamigos Costume Contest.
The biggest highlight of this year’s event is Horseshoe Ultra VIP Experience Herradura cocktails and premium extra anejo tequila tastings are offered in the relaxing charging lounge. Beneath the marquee, 8 of the best grills in town will compete in a one-hour live cooking competition curated by World BBQ Champion James Cruse and hosted by The Shed’s renowned Mississippi restaurateur Brad Orrison. Competing restaurants include City Pork, Crawfish King Seafood & BBQ, Desi Vegas Smokehouse, Frey Meat Company, Gonzo’s Smokehouse & BBQ, The Joint, Pyre Provisions and Smoked. VIP, First Taste and General Ticket holders can enjoy tacos and cocktails at some of their favorite restaurants while voting for the winners in five categories: Top Creative Tacos, Top Traditional Tacos, Top Creative tequila cocktails, top traditional margaritas – and new this year – top vegan tacos. Of course, the overall winner earns a big NOLA Boards trophy for GOAT (The Greatest Taco).
