The World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) conference, currently in Abu Dhabi, saw leading companies from the world’s largest wholesale market sign a number of important agreements.
Abu Dhabi is the first city in the UAE to join the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi today signed the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP), joining more than 250 cities around the world in their commitment to building more sustainable food systems.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Director of Operations, Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Government during the 2022 World Wholesale Markets Alliance Conference.
A major global initiative, the Milan Convention, involves more than 250 cities representing 450 million people.
In addition to providing a comprehensive framework, the agreement includes recommendations and actions to support sound planning for production and distribution of laws and systems, governance, sustainable food systems and supply networks.

Through this commitment, the Government of Abu Dhabi aims to ensure an integrated food security system, one of the most important priorities of governments and organizations around the world.
Abu Dhabi seeks to harness the latest digital innovations and artificial intelligence to stimulate the agricultural sector and enable sustainable food production.
KEZAD Group and ADAFSA sign agreement to strengthen food trade supervision
Khalifa Economic Zone, Abu Dhabi – Abu Dhabi’s integrated trade, logistics and industrial hub KEZAD Group has signed an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) to jointly establish a Global Agri-Food City.
Under the agreement, the two entities will collaborate to stimulate growth and investment in Abu Dhabi’s food trade ecosystem, including Abu Dhabi Food Hub – KEZAD and KEZAD Agtech Hub – Al Ain, by implementing an enabling unified regulatory framework.
This will cover trade, distribution and logistics, processing, agricultural technology production, research and development and related activities.
The agreement was signed by Mohamed Ghareeb Al Hosani, Chief Experience Officer, KEZAD Group, and Nasser Mohammed Al Junaibi, Executive Director, Investment and Business Sector, Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Authority.
Change Foods and KEZAD Group Sign Innovative Dairy Production Agreement
Change Foods has signed an agreement with KEZAD Group to design a dedicated commercial manufacturing plant solution for the production of animal-free dairy products in Abu Dhabi under the UAE Ministry of Economy’s NextGen FDI initiative.
The agreement was signed by Change Foods founder and CEO David Bucca and Abu Dhabi Khalifa Economic Zones – KEZAD Group CEO Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed.
