[ad_1]

According to reports, at least four Marines were killed in the attack.

The Pentagon said in a statement that several U.S. troops were killed and many more injured in the bomb attack at Kabul Airport on Thursday.

Spokesperson John Kirby said: “We can confirm that today’s complex attack on Kabul Airport caused the death of some American soldiers.”

“Some other people are undergoing wound treatment,” he said, calling it a “heinous attack.”

The Pentagon declined to provide figures, but Fox News and The Wall Street Journal reported that four Marines were killed in the attack, which involved two bombs, one at the airport’s monastery gate and one at a nearby house that was used as a rallying point. Hotel. Used for evacuation.

They are the first group of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan since Washington signed an agreement to withdraw from Afghanistan with the Taliban in February 2020.

In exchange for a commitment to withdraw, the Taliban agreed not to launch attacks on the United States or NATO forces.

Since April 14th, more than 5,000 US troops have provided security at the airport for a large-scale airlift, which has transported nearly 100,000 Afghans and foreign nationals out of the country to flee the Taliban to seize power.

Thousands of Afghans and foreigners are still waiting to leave the country.
