[ad_1]

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Faculty kicks off its In-Person Public Program 2023 with a series of inspiring talks, workshops and conferences throughout January.

The line-up kicked off with a talk titled “Unraveling the Underlying Structure of the Universe,” held in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Conference on Theoretical Physics, co-hosted by the institute and the UAE Space Agency. Scholars from leading institutions will discuss how physicists arrived at our current understanding of the universe, from the idea that everything is made of tiny vibrating strings, to how black holes break space and time to preserve information, to the profound reasons why the universe came into being. Why is the universe around us so huge.

A second presentation in January, titled “A Guide to Surviving a Black Hole,” was given in collaboration with NYU Abu Dhabi’s Center for Astronomy, Particle and Planetary Physics. Astrophysicist and author Janna Levin will discuss her latest book, Black Hole Survival Guide, an accessible and engaging guide to black holes. Levine will explain how the universe’s most intriguing resident black hole has changed our most fundamental understanding of the galaxy, the universe, and the entire reality we inhabit.

The institute will also host workshops and conferences in January, the first of which is titled “NYU AI in Healthcare Research and Ideation,” where NYU professors will highlight the role of AI in healthcare. Field challenges and new research directions, while seeking to create collaborative opportunities in Abu Dhabi for the global research community.

Additionally, NYUAD Associate Professor of Philosophy Sarah Paul and Matthew Silverstein will present a three-day seminar entitled “Normative and Reasoning IX.” The January program will conclude with a meeting organized by the Special Olympics Global Education Inclusion Center and the Center’s research partners, Special Olympics International regional staff and Special Olympics Program Partners, where experts will discuss globally unified education systems.
