Fulton – John McConnell, one of Central New York’s premier singers, songwriters and guitarists, will be the featured performer at the Oswego County Opportunity (OCO) Thanksgiving Celebration.
McConnell’s unique “Solo Indie Lounge” brand is a fusion of blues, jazz, soul, folk and more. He has been an integral part of the Spring Festival music scene for nearly two decades. McConnell has put on thousands of shows from upstate New York to New York City to Los Angeles. 2022 SAMMY Award winner McConnell’s untrained finger-style approach to guitar creates recognizable sounds and grooves.
On Friday, Nov. 4, McConnell will entertain the OCO’s “Thanksgiving” celebration with his extensive repertoire, including original compositions.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with an organization that has greatly benefited our community,” McConnell said. “OCO and the services it provides are integral to helping create positive change in our region. It was an honor and a privilege to be part of this event!”
OCO’s Thanksgiving is hosted by G&C Foods and Eagle Beverage and will be held at the Lake Ontario Event and Convention Center on East 1st Street in Oswego. Gratitude is a tool to highlight OCO’s many programs and services, as well as a fundraiser to ensure the agency can continue to provide those programs and services to those in need. Proceeds from the event will benefit OCO’s Giving That Grows initiative, which focuses on fighting hunger and food insecurity in our communities.
OCO’s GivingThanks is a one-of-a-kind food and drink pairing that will showcase food samples from some of the restaurants and eateries in the area. Food stations throughout the venue will provide attendees with the opportunity to sample harvest season delicacies, paired with wine and beer samples specially selected to complement each station’s specialty foods. There will also be many paintings and live entertainment.
“We are delighted that John is joining us for our Thanksgiving celebration,” said Bridget Dolbear, OCO Development Coordinator. “His performance will bring some extra excitement to our event.”
McConnell can be heard on his McTuesday livestream Tuesday night Facebook.com/JohnnyMcTunes, garbage night variety time. His original music can also be found on all major music streaming platforms.
