On the first day of the World Future Energy Summit, the world’s leading companies showcased innovative clean energy technologies.

As part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the prestigious World Future Energy Summit, a global platform focused on energy and sustainability, hosted by Masdar, kicked off today with five concurrent thought leadership forums. The Solar & Clean Energy, EcoWASTE, Climate & Environment, Smart Cities and Water Forum will be held at Abu Dhabi ADNEC until 19 January 2022.

18 new sustainability innovations from around the world were showcased as part of ‘Innovation’, a global Masdar City knowledge exchange initiative. Take part in ADNEC’s face-to-face business, innovation and knowledge exchange programme at the world’s leading future energy and sustainability business event over the next two days.

The World Future Energy Summit 2022 is organised by key regional government entities including Abu Dhabi Energy, NEOM, TAQA, Tadweer, ENEC and EWEC in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Energy and NEOM Electricity and Water to provide case studies and presentations. Future energy and sustainability leaders presenting new technologies and participating in panel discussions included Total, BP, NEXTracker, Sungrow, GHD, Ecoppia and Rolls-Royce.

The Solar and Clean Energy Forum kicked off with keynote speeches by Dr. Sham Al Malek, Director of Strategic Affairs, Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, and Jens Madrian, Executive Director of NEOM Energy. From Emirates Hydro, McKinsey & Company, UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, TAQA, Abu Dhabi Energy, Total Energies, NEOM Energy & Water, Transco, GHD, IRENA, Enerwhere, Masdar, Jinko Solar and Arab Renewable Energy Council .

The EcoWASTE Forum was moderated by Meghna Talreja, Founder and CEO of One Modern World and Optas App, and the keynote was delivered by Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer). Panel discussion speakers from Unwrapped, Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer), Bee’ah, Tetra Pak, EcoSquare, Arthur D Little, Swiss Abu Dhabi Business Council, Tetra Tech, Repeet, Veolia and Rica many.

GreenFootprint founder Jelena Lefavrais welcomed the audience at the Climate and Environment Forum, followed by four case studies from McKinsey & Company, Schneider Electric Energy and Sustainability Services, UPS and Green Touches. Panel discussion with The Umbrella Institute, Dubai Energy Supreme Council, WWF, Unilever, Cranmore Partners, Sustainability Excellence, Luxembourg Ministry of Economy and CFA Institute

Dr. Nabyl Chenaf, Dean of the School of Architecture, American University of Dubai, delivered a welcome speech at the Smart City Forum, attended by high-level representatives from RMA Advisory, AECOM, Masdar City, JLL, KPH Design, Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill to discuss architecture, Middle East Architecture Network, Buro Hack, Heriot-Watt University Dubai and Atkins.

The Water Forum welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Najib H. Dandachi, Chief Executive Officer of Al Usul, and the keynote speech was delivered by Jamal Shadid, Director of Policy Development, Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi. Industry experts from FTI Consulting, UAE Green Building Council, NEOM Energy & Water, Dubai Energy Supreme Council, RSB Dubai, Metito Utilities, SWPC, Jacobs, Verteco and SaveWaterUAE, and Transco discussed.

At the World Future Energy Summit 2022, the industry’s brightest minds meet, exchange ideas, and showcase new innovations that support a sustainable future. It features seven national pavilions, including Japan, Germany, China, Italy, South Korea, France and Switzerland, connecting emerging markets with top global technology players. Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Amedeo Scarpa, said: “The UAE is a strategic market for companies in the renewable energy sector to internationalise. At this year’s World Future Energy Summit, we will host 16 professional SMEs companies, including 3 start-ups. Looking at its numbers and the country’s efforts to switch to more sustainable energy, I believe that the exchange of technologies, ideas and solutions between Italy and the UAE will only grow. “
