One of the largest food and healthcare warehouses in the region to launch in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – AD Ports Group, a leading facilitator of global trade, logistics and industry, has announced that its new state-of-the-art warehouse and logistics centre in Abu Dhabi, KLP21, will be available in the third quarter of 2022.

KLP21 is located in KIZAD, the group’s integrated trade, logistics and industrial zone between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It leverages the UAE’s strategic position as a gateway to Asia, Africa and the MENA region, representing a combined market of over 4.5 billion consumers. KLP21 is strategically located next to the upcoming regional food hub along the E311 main freight corridor, ensuring direct connections to all major markets.

Comprising four warehouses with a capacity of over 80,000 square meters, KLP21 will be one of the largest and most advanced temperature-controlled logistics hubs in the region. Combined, these warehouses will be able to hold over 100,000 pallets in a network of chambers that can be independently configured for a range of sizes and temperatures, including -26°C to 25°C.

The facility is tailored to support key regional industries that require refrigerated and ambient storage, including the healthcare, food and beverage, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and specialty chemicals industries. Among the benefits for potential customers, the facility will provide a full suite of third-party logistics (3PL) and fourth-party logistics (4PL) services, regional logistics hub operations and value-added services, including repackaging, specialty packaging, labeling and else.

Backed by strategic intermodal capabilities including direct access to two major world-class ports, five international airports within a 90-minute drive, congestion-free multi-lane highways and Etihad Rail’s future rail line, KLP21 Support will be provided for potential partners as well as customers with direct and efficient access to key local, regional and global markets. Additionally, the hub will be serviced by a fleet of more than 400 transport vehicles, supporting domestic and cross-border road transport.

Developed by KIZAD, the facility will have two of the four warehouses on a 40,000 sqm site and will be operated by AD Ports Logistics. For AD Ports Logistics, this is in addition to over 350,000 square meters of logistics storage space, including 19,000 square meters of refrigerated and ultra-refrigerated facilities based on KIZAD, the cornerstone of Abu Dhabi’s global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic .

The project has been designed with the latest best-in-class solutions in mind, including the use of advanced insulation to reflect sunlight; strategic use of skylights to reduce the need for lighting; recycling of water for irrigation; power and solar power.

State-of-the-art facilities are also developed according to the latest HSEQ and ISO standards, ensuring that customers’ products will be handled with the highest level of global regulatory compliance.
