‘One Ranger’ director has fond memories of Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks

Johnson recalls being inspired by seeing a statue of famed Ranger captain Bill McDonald.

“Bill Macdonald is Texas Rangers say ‘one riot, one Ranger‘I’ve always loved it because it reminded me of my early trips to Dallas,” Johnson said.

Johnson says his passion must show in all of his projects.

“They had to fit me because there was so much damn hard work,” he said. “They all end up being a part of you. Your blood, sweat and tears go into it. For this one, this rule is no exception.”

Johnson also said he hoped Texans would enjoy his film.

“To hear people in Texas like this photo means the whole world to me because I love this state and I love the people of Texas,” he said.

Day 1 Highlights

DIFF 2023 is scheduled for May 5th at the Violet Crown Cinemas in Uptown West Village. The event will also include Q&A sessions with filmmakers and cast members, a nightly red carpet, a lounge and more.
