JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa announces the opening of JW Gardens, a tranquil and enchanting sanctuary where natural wonder meets culinary art.

Celebrating Alice Marriott’s love of gardening, JW Gardens at JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts around the world offers guests an oasis of tranquility where they can cultivate a variety of fresh herbs, vegetables and fruits to take their culinary experience to the next level .

The JW Gardens total 3,600 square feet and reflect the resort’s commitment to sustainability and wellbeing. The culinary menu has been carefully crafted for JW Gardens, with lots of fresh herbs and vegetables in both food and beverages, and the resort’s chefs use a holistic approach to cooking to preserve the most delicious nutrients, ensuring guests get the best tasting food with every bite.

A signature element of the JW Marriott experience, the JW Garden creates a sensory connection to the natural world that invigorates the mind and refreshes the soul. The garden features a variety of herbs, vegetables and fruit grown throughout the year. Currently the garden is planted with 10 herbs, 25 vegetables and 5 fruits and the aim is to increase this number in the coming year. Some of the herbs grown include sage, coriander and lemongrass, while fruits and vegetables such as tamarind, mango, passion fruit, red amaranth, tomato and cabbage are also grown.

JW Gardens is managed by two of the resort’s talented staff, with Laundry Manager Mohamed Rilwan and Herb Gardener Abdullah playing a vital role in its development. They are responsible for clearing the area, building infrastructure and planting plants.

JW Garden is not just a garden, but an artistic project created through the hard work and dedication of Rilwan and Abdullah. Every aspect of JW Gardens reflects their passion for creating sustainable and serene spaces for their guests, which they hope will provide inspiration and opportunities for people to connect with nature and, ultimately, themselves.

Speaking more about maintaining the space, Rilwan says: “We believe in sustainability and the importance of protecting the environment. We recycle all kitchen food scraps into compost and use only 100% homemade organic fertilizer.
