Imran Khan and his sons received an additional commando team from the Kyber Pakhtaunkhawa provincial police station just days after the former Pakistani prime minister survived an assassination attempt in Punjab province.
Although Khan’s Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI) has a coalition government in Punjab, the party does not trust the Punjab police after last week’s assassination attempt in which he was shot in the right leg in the Wazirabad area, with some distanced from pulling Hoer 150 km.

“On Friday, a special commando team of KP police took over the personal safety of Imran Khan and his sons,” PTI said.
Khan’s two sons arrived here on Thursday to meet their father.
On the other hand, the Punjab police have stepped up security at Khan’s residence in Zaman Park.
A security wall of sandbags and cement blocks has been set up outside his house.
In addition, checkpoints have been set up at the entrance and exit of his home, and surveillance cameras have been installed.
A dedicated desk has also been set up to record visitors to the former Prime Minister’s residence.
“We have the latest reports that Imran Khan is life-threatening. Therefore, his security has been enhanced,” said Special Assistant to Chief Interior Minister Omar Safraz Chima.
Imran Khan’s safety will not be compromised, he said.
Meanwhile, Khan spoke on Friday via a video link from his home to the party’s Long March, which will travel to Islamabad to push Sheikh Baz Sharif’s coalition government’s call for new elections.
PTI’s Islamabad march, led by the party’s vice-president Shah Mahmood Qureshi, resumed on Thursday from Wazirabad, a week after the assassination attempt on its chairman Imran Khan.

Khan said Sharif and Zardari wanted the army chief of their choice “to protect the money they looted and want to steal more money”.
Earlier, Khan declared Sharif and Zardari unfit to appoint senior officers, citing “thieves are not allowed” to do so.
He also criticised Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif for discussing the key appointment with “open criminal Nawaz Sharif”, saying it was a breach of the Official Secrets Act and his oath.
Khan has proposed to extend Gen Bajwa’s term until the next election.
“The new army chief should be appointed by the prime minister who is elected after the new polls,” Khan said.
Imran Khan also accused the military of allowing Sharif and Zardari to return to power.
“The thieves come to power because of their handlers (the term he uses for the military establishment),” he said.
He further stated that there is no rule of law in Pakistan.
“Although I am a former prime minister, I cannot register for an FIR just because I have named a powerful man in it (Major General Faisal of ISI),” he said, adding that no country can progress without the rule of law .
