Army Chief of Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa said Pakistan values the United Arab Emirates’ role in global and regional affairs, the army said in a statement.
“We look forward to strengthening our bilateral relationship,” the Army Chief of Staff said on Thursday during a meeting with UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Dhabi at headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Issues of mutual interest, bilateral defense and security cooperation, and the regional security situation were discussed during the meeting, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“We look forward to strengthening our bilateral relationship,” ISPR quoted General Bajwa as saying. The two sides agreed to further strengthen friendly relations and a lasting strategic partnership.
The official statement also said the visiting dignitaries expressed grief over the devastation caused by the floods in Pakistan, extended sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the victims.
COAS appreciates the extraordinary support provided by the UAE government to those affected by the disaster.
He also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional stability and pledged to play his part in further improving diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
At the same time, the Army Chief of Staff also met with the Belgian ambassador to Pakistan, Charles Joseph M. Delaunay. ISPR said issues of mutual interest, the regional security situation and strengthening bilateral and defense cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
The visiting dignitaries expressed their grief over the floods caused by the rains in Pakistan, and expressed their sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
According to military media reports, the envoy appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to stabilize the region and pledged to play a role in strengthening cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
