Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the meeting earlier Friday that since the Taliban came to power, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi has talked with Brinken about the “new political reality” in Afghanistan.
The statement said: “Although the Taliban should abide by their commitments, the international community has a moral obligation to help the Afghan people cope with the growing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.”

International donors pledged at the Afghanistan Conference last week to provide more than 1.1 billion U.S. dollars to solve these problems, but the Taliban also called for the release of about 10 billion U.S. dollars of assets held by the Central Bank of Afghanistan in foreign countries to be used to solve these problems.
This call has been supported by several other countries, including Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
