After the photo appeared, a man pointed a gun at a photo of a man wearing a traditional Arab headdress, which caused controversy.
The Panamanian police force apologized for participating in training courses organized by Israel. Earlier pictures showed police shooting at targets that appeared to depict people wearing traditional Arab clothing.
Photos that appeared during the training sparked controversy. One of the photos showed a man pointing a gun at an armed man wearing a traditional headdress.
These pictures were posted on Twitter by the National Police and the local Israeli Chamber of Commerce, but were later deleted.
The police said in a statement on Friday: “We respect cultural, religious and racial differences.” “We are sorry…something that goes beyond the nature of our mission and responsibilities.”
The deleted Twitter post stated that the training was organized by the Israeli Embassy in Panama.
The Panamanian Palestinian Press Office also condemned the training.
“The target training code of conduct only accepts silhouettes, not images… [this] According to local media reports, the office said in a statement that this is an act of discrimination and racism that Panama should not tolerate.

The dispute caused condemnation by the Panamanian Council of Solidarity with Palestine, which said the course promoted “violence and racism, so anyone wearing a headscarf or similar can be classified as a terrorist.”
The committee also asked the government to cancel foreign “intervention” in the training of security forces.
The statement said: “Such training violates the agreement on shooting courses that prohibit the use of unique figures of the Arab people as objects of hatred and persecution.”
“We call on the national government to cancel Israel and other countries…interventions in our security forces,” it added.
The training also sparked condemnation on social media.
