Abu Dhabi Customs has foiled an attempt to smuggle 2,051 grams of cocaine after a female passenger’s suitcase passed through an X-ray machine at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Customs officials suspected the suitcase after noticing that the interior of the suitcase looked abnormal.
As soon as Abu Dhabi Customs searched the female passenger’s suspicious bag, they found a hidden compartment inside the suitcase, which was professionally sewn. Inside the compartment were four clear plastic bags containing a white substance that later turned out to be cocaine and weighed 2,051 grams.
Abu Dhabi Customs, in cooperation with its relevant partners, is continuously developing work plans and programmes to address drug smuggling risks.
