PWR has signed an agreement allowing them to take over the operations of the Historic Texas Theater in Cleveland, Texas. As existing movies in single-screen theaters die out, current owners are thinking about what to do with movie theaters. Shows are no longer sold out; seats are still empty, and the movie business is no longer profitable. PWR owner Curt Smith figured out a way to keep the Texans running without losing their historic status. Instead of converting it into a retail store or office, PWR leased the building and is now converted into a concert venue and event hall.
The final film will be released in theaters on September 8, 2022; after that, PWR will take over and begin operating the transition. The new PWR Texas Theater will reopen with a grand opening on November 5, 2022. More information on the grand reopening will be shared soon! PWR plans to host events throughout the week, with a headline concert on Saturday. Programs such as Comic Relief Night are currently being planned. Event and show releases will follow within the next 7-10 days, and ticket sales will also be available on the PWR website at pwrpromotions.com.
The changes are minor, but will include VIP seating available on the balcony as well as the first three rows of seats in front of the stage seating area. Balcony concession areas and beer and wine sales will be available once license approval for the entire theater is complete.
PWR is proud to be able to achieve this in such a historic theater, which has been done in cities in Texas and beyond, Huntsville, Conroe, Houston, Dayton, etc. just in the same way few cities in transition. All of these venues have been hugely successful and are great places to host events. Showtimes for regular event shows are 7-10pm, and doors open at 5pm on show nights.
We at PWR are happy to keep the Texas Theater in pristine condition; it has been a city and county staple since 1939. We are proud to take over the operation and turn it into an event hall for everyone to enjoy for years to come. We look forward to opening our doors and sharing with the community on November 5th.
