‘Pink Women’ Drives Breast Cancer Awareness

Novartis, one of the world’s top pharmaceutical companies, has launched a new “Pink Women” campaign aimed at raising breast cancer awareness to improve the quality of life for women in the Bay Area.

The campaign is part of Novartis’ ongoing commitment to raising awareness and creating solutions for breast cancer care, which encourages women in the region to be game changers in their own health.

It will also empower women by providing them with the right information to make the best choices for their treatment plans through a partnership with the Emirates Oncology Society and the non-profit organization Friends of Cancer Patients.

“Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in all GCC countries, according to the World Health Organization. That’s why we must work together to improve public health education and raise awareness about breast cancer through initiatives such as the Pink Women campaign. awareness of prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment,” said Professor Humaid Al Shamsi, President of the UAE Society of Oncology.

“The incidence of breast cancer in the GCC is relatively low compared to other industrialized countries. However, the disease still affects a large portion of the population, especially women,” added Dr. Sawsan Al Madhi, Director General of Friends of Cancer Patients . “That’s why we believe our approach to breast cancer in the Bay Area needs to undergo profound and broad changes, starting with early screening and continuing our commitment to improving and extending the lives of cancer patients. About one-third of cancers can be prevented with simple lifestyle changes, genetic testing and vaccination in high-risk groups. The Women in Pink campaign aims to encourage women to get early cancer screenings, regular checkups and mammograms because patients who are diagnosed early and whose cancer is still localized have significantly better survival rates. In addition, the campaign aims to raise awareness of metastatic breast cancer symptoms so patients can recognize their own and others’ symptoms, and ensure that patients with metastatic breast cancer have access to enhanced and innovative treatment solutions, a statement said.

“We need to improve outcomes for patients receiving cancer treatment, and nothing impacts cancer survival more than screening and early detection. By engaging with stakeholders at every level, from patients to healthcare practitioners, we hope to create A society where early and frequent screening becomes easy and accessible, and where patients are able to receive treatment at the right time for optimal outcomes,” said Al Shamsi.

As part of the new campaign, Novartis will collaborate with diverse stakeholders and thought leaders to drive discussions on prevention, early intervention and care management to improve patient outcomes, improve quality of life and prolong patient life.
