PM Modi leaves UAE after brief stop in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi [UAE]28th June (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi left the UAE after a brief stop in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday after returning from Munich, Germany.
It was the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since the Prime Minister’s last visit to Abu Dhabi in August 2019. The main purpose of the visit was to convey his personal condolences on the passing of the Prime Minister. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan last month.
“For a stronger partnership. For a stronger friendship. Prime Minister @narendramodi wraps up his visit to Germany and the UAE,” tweeted Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindan Bach.
“PM @narendramodi expresses his personal condolences on passing Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Last month, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other members of the Royal Family National Security Service Sheikh Tahnoon, Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour, Sheikh Khalid, MD Mead and FM Sheikh Abdullah said in another tweet.

The Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other members of the royal family.
“The Prime Minister to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and including National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Day Sheikh Man Heartfelt condolences from the family of Sur bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, MD., Abu Dhabi Investments Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and others,” MEA said in a statement.


The Prime Minister also congratulated Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his election as the third President of the UAE and becoming the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
The two leaders reviewed various aspects of the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership that they have carefully nurtured over the past few years. At the virtual summit on February 18, the two countries signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into effect on May 1.
CEPA is expected to further promote trade and investment between the two countries. Bilateral trade in fiscal 2021-22 is estimated at about $72 billion. The UAE is India’s third largest trading partner and second largest export destination. The UAE’s FDI in India has been increasing over the past few years and now stands at over $12 billion.
“During the virtual summit, the two leaders also issued a vision statement for bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, energy such as renewable energy, food security, health, defense, skills, education, culture and other fields for the next few years. The collaboration lays out the roadmap. And the connection between people.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction that India and the UAE continue to forge a closer partnership in these areas, as they have forged close and friendly relations and long-established people-to-people ties. The India-UAE has a strong energy partnership and is now focusing on renewable energy,” MEA said.
The Prime Minister thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, for his loving care of the UAE’s 3.5 million Indian community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He invited Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit India at an early date. (ANI)
