ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif will be on a two-day official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 12-13 January, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister will visit the UAE at the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including key members of the cabinet. This will be the third visit to the UAE by the Prime Minister since taking office.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will meet with the UAE President, with a special focus on advancing economic, trade and investment relations between the two brotherly countries and creating more opportunities for the Pakistani workforce in the UAE.
The two leaders will also exchange views on a series of regional and global issues of mutual concern.
Prime Minister Shehabz Sharif will meet Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold meetings with Emirati businessmen and investors to discuss ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment.
The UAE is home to approximately 1.7 million Pakistanis who have been playing a pivotal role in the UAE’s success story over the past five years, contributing to the progress, prosperity and economic development of the two brotherly countries
It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif co-chairs an international conference on ‘Climate Resilience in Pakistan’ With UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Geneva.
The meeting brought together governments, public and private sector leaders, and civil society to support the people and government of Pakistan in addressing the enormous challenges of post-flood reconstruction and recovery.
Pakistan receives pledges of more than $10 billion from international financial institutions, donor agencies and development partners for recovery, recovery and reconstruction areas affected by floodsduring an international conference.
Major commitments at the meeting co-chaired by Pakistan and the UN in Geneva, Switzerland included $4.2 billion from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), $2 billion from the World Bank, $1.5 billion from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) , according to the state news agency, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) provided $1 billion and Saudi Arabia provided $1 billion.
