- 18 flights arrive in Pakistan with relief supplies

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif on Tuesday thanked the United Arab Emirates government for its continued support to the disaster-stricken people of Pakistan, including the establishment of a humanitarian corridor.
“We are particularly grateful to the UAE government for its continued support to flood victims, including the establishment of a humanitarian corridor between our two brother countries,” the prime minister tweeted.
The Prime Minister’s tweet came after two other rescue flights from the UAE arrived at Nurhan Air Base in Rawalpindi. A total of 18 flights from the UAE landed in Pakistan with food, medical supplies and tents.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Emirates Red Crescent Society for launching a donation drive to support flood relief efforts.

The Emirates Red Crescent Society, in partnership with Dubai Cares and Sharjah Charity Society, launched the “We Stand Together” volunteering campaign to pack and deliver thousands of emergency relief kits to disaster-stricken people in Pakistan.
Nine other UAE humanitarian organisations have joined the initiative, including Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity , Big Heart Foundation, Dar Al Ber, International Humanitarian City, Emirates Water Aid Foundation (Suchya, UAE), Sharjah Charity House, International Charity Organisation and Emirates Charity Association.
Community Volunteering will take place simultaneously at three locations across the UAE on Saturday 10 September 2022 at 9am.
Citizens, expats, families, children, seniors and people of determination are encouraged to sign up to volunteer at https://volunteers.ae/ as soon as possible and gather at their preferred location to start before assembling a rescue pack.
Children will also have the opportunity to write and draw positive messages that will be placed inside relief boxes to express solidarity with the people of Pakistan and bring hope in times of crisis.
Rescue kits will include food supplies such as flour, rice, lentils and oils and other non-perishable items, while hygiene kits will include essential toiletries for women and children such as diapers, sanitary pads and soap.
